Windows and Glazing
This product category applies to PVRS credit RE-R1 Minimum
Energy Performance and can assist for the optional credit RE-2 Cool
Building Strategies to achieve a higher Pearl rating.
RE-R1 Requirements
RE-R1 Minimum Energy Performance of the PVRS requires that
fenestration is to have a maximum Solar Heat Gain Coefficient
(SHGC) of 0.4 and an area weighted average U-value that is equal to
or less than 2.2 W/m2K. If you cannot provide the "whole
system" fenestration U-value i.e. glass and frame, a glazing centre
pane U-value of 1.8 W/m2K combined with a thermally
broken frame is currently accepted as provided in the EVPD.
RE-2 Requirements
To achieve a higher Pearl rating, RE-2 Cool Building Strategies
may be pursued, which requires a minimum area weighted average
U-value that is less or equal to 1.9 W/m2K and a maximum
SHGC of 0.3. If you cannot provide the "whole system" fenestration
U-value i.e. glass and frame, a glazing centre pane U-value of 1.5
W/m2K combined with a thermally broken frame is
currently accepted.
